About Me |
Catherine Wheel -- "Adam & Eve" -- Mercury. "Adam & Eve" showcases what an "album project" is truly about. Song to song, you sense that this is a complete work, one that takes you on an emotional journey. There are moments on "Adam & Eve" when Catherine Wheel gets everything right, conjuring up sounds that fit together perfectly. Sometimes sounding like Cracker, Collective Soul and -- even -- Pink Floyd, the band's rock sound is extremely confident and -- as a result -- quite enjoyable. "Delicious" sounds destined for rock radio success with its Cracker-like vocals. Other songs, meanwhile, employ a gradual build up with enthusiastic endings such as on "Broken Nose," "Phantom of the American Mother," "Ma Solituda" and the perfect sounding "Satellite." The band may play a rock style that leans toward the softer side of the spectrum, but few artists these days can convey such powerful feelings as witnessed on this album. B+
