CATHERINE WHEEL, Adam and Eve
Contrary to the teasing of some of my friends, Adam and Eve is not my record of the year just because Catherine Wheel are my favorite band. No, Catherine Wheel has upped the ante of their own sheer brilliance with each release, and Adam and Eve is an earthy, elemental record with balls and pathos to buttress Catherine Wheel's painstaking sensitivity, intelligence, and most significantly, the mesmerizing wide-open space so resplendent at every groove of this cohesive long-player.
